MISSION

Our is to mission is to increase understanding and awareness for people with facial differences.

HISTORY

Every Smile Has A Story is an organization that has been founded to increase understanding and awareness for people with facial differences. Cleft lip and palate has now become the most common live birth defect. There are over 340 syndromes that include cleft lip and palate. Children with this condition have difficulty feeding, speaking , and are at risk for psychological problems including depression and self-esteem issues. Often their families are ill-prepared for their arrival. Although medical insurance covers the costs of surgery, there are huge gaps in coverage for many of the specialty items these children will need. This includes special feeding systems, bottles, transportation to and from multiple medical appointments, and certain special medical and dental appliances that may be needed.

2015-2016 CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

Presented by Florida Craniofacial Institute, the “Every Smile Has a Story” Golf Tournament is held in order to increase awareness for craniofacial anomalies and raise funds for children in Tampa that need support relating to cleft lip or palate issues. Funds raised from the tournament have helped children receive care from the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Center, a state-of-the-art, comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to treating head shape, cleft lip, and craniofacial anomalies in young children.

The generosity of sponsors and golfers at the “Every Smile has a Story” golf tournaments over the last three years is overwhelming. In July 2015, Dr. Pat Ricalde presented a donation check to the Craniofacial Center team at SJCH for $10,000! In 2017, Every Smile Has a Story is sponsoring a family to attend a speical Children’s Craniofacial Association retreat. Each year, we work to beat our fundraising goal so that we can purchase needed supplies, provide medically necessary care, and offer support to these Tampa area families. In order to meet this goal, we are asking for sponsorships from local businesses and individuals such as yourself.
